Course Description: 

This course is primarily designed for personnel without limited formal training on electricity. It covers the fundamentals of electricity, exposure to electrical activity, protective methods and devices, and safe practices in the construction industry. This course reviews the mechanism of death and harm and ties them to the Florida Building Code 5th Edition (2014) Energy Conservation. The participant will increase their understanding of the process of harm and how code compliance mitigates risk.

 

Course Objectives:

The participant will learn:

  1. Principles of electricity and the body’s metabolic response to voltage or current.
  2. The process of death from electrocution and other causes tied to electrical phenomena.
  3. Electrical safety principles to prevent harm.
  4. The bridge between effective use and conservation of energy over the useful life of each building defined in the Florida Building Code, and electrical safety.
