Course Description:
This course provides an in-depth analysis of energy conservation terms according to the Florida Building Code 5th Edition (2014) Energy Conservation. The participant will increase their understanding of these terms with code compliance and policy discussions at the component, equipment, system and building level. Going beyond basics, it provides comparisons to the Florida Building Code 2010 Energy Conservation, as well as the counterpart terms used in common English.
Course Objectives:
The participant will learn:
- The evolution of the concepts of energy conservation, energy efficiency and energy performance.
- Florida Building Code 2014 word concepts the designers, builders and code officials must understand.
- Key energy terms that are not defined in the Florida Building Code
- Understanding the Effective Use of Energy”, C101.3 Intent
- Specific energy definitions for parts, equipment, building systems, whole systems and their implication on energy policy.
